1 : Come prima domanda, inizierò con una vera tradizione. Puoi presentarti ai nostri lettori ? Di dove sei ? As a first question, I'll start with a real tradition. Can you introduce yourself to our readers ? Where are you from ?

Sono Matteo Marcucci, conosciuto in rete come Cavedifoam. Classe 1981, sono nato e cresciuto a Pesaro, cittadina del centro Italia.

I'm Matteo Marcucci, known online as Cavedifoam. Born in 1981, I was born and raised in Pesaro, a town in central Italy.

2 : Ti ho conosciuto personalmente grazie a Nicolas ( @laconteagentile ) e ho subito amato il tuo universo, il tuo lavoro. Come lo hai incontrato? E tu stesso sei un fan di Tolkien ?I met you personally thanks to Nicolas (@laconteagentile) and I immediately loved your universe, your work. How did you meet him? And are you a Tolkien fan yourself ?

Nicolas l'ho conosciuto in rete quando aveva ancora il vecchio profilo (Myhobbitlife) e non aveva ancora il grande seguito di questo momento. Ho visto un video girato da Progetto happiness e sono venuto a sapere del suo grande sogno. Da lì ho cominciato a seguirlo e poi è capitata l’occasione di conoscersi (sempre virtualmente, non ho ancora avuto modo di incontrarlo dal vivo).Per quanto riguarda Tolkien, si, sono un grande appassionato del lavoro del Professore. Di tutto il fantasy in generale a dirla tutta. Sono cresciuto a pane e Dungeons & Dragons, gioco di ruolo a cui tra l’altro continuo a giocare settimanalmente con il mio gruppo storico (nonostante l’età che avanza).

I met Nicolas on the net when he still had the old profile ( Myhobbitlife on Instagram ) and he still didn't have the big following at this point. I saw a video shot by Progetto happiness and I learned of his great dream. From there I started following him and then the opportunity to get to know each other happened (always virtually, I have not yet had the opportunity to meet him live).As for Tolkien, yes, I am a huge fan of the Professor's work. Of all the fantasy in general to be honest. I grew up on bread and Dungeons & Dragons, a role-playing game that, among other things, I continue to play weekly with my historical group (despite the advancing age).

3 : Parliamo del tuo lavoro/della tua passione! Mi rendo conto del tempo e della pazienza necessari per questo tipo di lavoro (faccio anch'io un po' di modelli). Puoi spiegare come si avvia un progetto? Quali sono le diverse fasi del travaglio ? Let's talk about your job / your passion! I realize the time and patience required for this type of work (I also do a few models). Can you explain how a project starts? What are the different stages of labor ?

Effettivamente realizzare opere in miniatura richiede tanta pazienza, soprattutto lavorando su dimensioni estremamente ridotte come sono solito fare io.

Diciamo che le idee non mi mancano, ho una lista di progetti che vorrei realizzare estremamente lunga. Mi basta vedere qualcosa che mi scatta l’ispirazione, poi magari non tutto è concretamente realizzabile.
Normalmente mi muovo cosí. Faccio chiarezza sull’idea poi faccio uno schizzo piú o meno accurato del progetto (normalmente uso Procreate, quindi in digitale). Ragiono sui materiali da utilizzare e poi procedo per step.
Ci sono progetti in cui creo l’intero pezzo e poi passo alla pittura e altri dove pitturo pezzo per pezzo e li assemblo successivamente. Non ho un metodo definitivo.
Se devo lavorare in serie normalmente creo degli stampi in silicone per velocizzare il lavoro ed essere certo che ogni pezzo sia uguale agli altri.

Actually making miniature works requires a lot of patience, especially working on extremely small dimensions as I usually do. Let's say that I don't lack ideas, I have an extremely long list of projects that I would like to carry out. It is enough for me to see something that inspires me, then maybe not everything is concretely achievable.Normally I move like this. I clarify the idea and then make a more or less accurate sketch of the project (I usually use Procreate, therefore digitally). I think about the materials to use and then I proceed step by step.There are projects in which I create the entire piece and then move on to painting and others where I paint piece by piece and then assemble them. I don't have a definitive method.If I have to work in series, I usually create silicone molds to speed up the work and be sure that each piece is the same as the others.

4 : È questa la tua attività principale ? Se sì, è complicato viverne ? E se no, raccontaci bene il tuo lavoro quotidiano ?Is this your main business? If so, is it complicated to live with? And if not, tell us about your daily work well ?

No, sarebbe bello ma questo è solo un hobby al momento. Che mi sta comunque dando tantissime soddisfazioni. Faccio i miei lavori durante il tempo libero, che sia quando rientro dal lavoro durante la settimana o nel weekend. Se non ho pressione dovuta a scadenze o progetti impellenti magari ci dedico un po’ meno tempo, altrimenti testa bassa e pedalare.

No, that would be cool but this is just a hobby at the moment. Which is still giving me a lot of satisfaction. I do my jobs during my free time, whether it's when I come home from work during the week or on the weekend. If I don't have pressure due to deadlines or urgent projects, maybe I'll spend a little less time on them, otherwise head down and pedal.

5 : Quali sono i tuoi progetti futuri in questo settore ? What are your future projects in this sector ?

Ho davvero tanti progetti che mi ronzano nella mente (molti a tema Signore degli anelli) e diversi vedranno la luce a breve. Di certo proseguiró su questa strada perché come detto mi sto togliendo davvero tante soddisfazioni.

I have so many projects that are buzzing in my mind (many Lord of the Rings themed) and several will see the light soon. I will certainly continue on this path because, as I said, I am taking off a lot of satisfaction.

Magari potrá portarti al successo, a un semplice complimento o a niente. Ma almeno avrai dedicato il tuo tempo a quello che realmente ti rende felice.Per citare Gandalf: “Possiamo soltanto decidere cosa fare con il tempo che ci viene concesso”.
